The 4-1-1

DJ of the Week: Chris Bachmann

Chris Bachmann is a DJ who doesn't mess around: the man has performed for big-name stars, spun inside the swankiest clubs, and has been doing it for the past 15 years.

"I started DJing college parties at Rutgers University," Bachmann says. "That was 15 years ago, and I've been DJing ever since."

Central New Jersey is home for Bachmann, but he spent most of his time growing up in New York City, where he first got inspired to be in the music business.

"Everywhere is different," Bachmann says. "Southern New Jersey is its own style and they are used to hearing a very specific type of music. I've been a resident DJ at The Pool at Harrah's Resort for the past three years; it's such a fun venue and people always have a good time when I play there."

How To Start The Party: "I try and read the crowd and play what they want to hear," Bachmann says. "Though, sometimes I throw in tracks that they aren't expecting - being predictable makes you sound boring and unoriginal."

What To Expect: "I spin all types of music," Bachmann says. "But, I really enjoy house and electro. I play as many of my personal remixes as I can during my sets, too."

Influences: Bachmann lists Todd Terry, Armand Van Helden and Danny Tenaglia as some of the New York City nightclub "gods," while Brooklyn hip-hoppers Eric B and Rakim were also hugely influential for him.

Making Airwaves: "I am on the radio in New York City on 103.5 KTU FM," Bachmann says. "I have the No. 1 rated show in New York every Friday at 5 p.m. - more than 1.5 million listeners!"

Claims To Fame: Bachmann is the official DJ for Gotham Magazine and Hamptons Magazine, and has done events for Amare Stoudemire, Serena Williams, Sandra Lee and Alec Baldwin.

Check Him Out: 10 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at The Pool at Harrah's Resort
